چکیده

We present a theoretical description of the generation of ultra-short, high-energy pulses in an all-normal dispersion laser cavity with spectral filtering. A reduced variational model based upon the Haus master mode-locking equations with quintic saturation is shown to characterize the experimentally observed dynamics. Critical in driving the intracavity dynamics is the nontrivial phase profiles generated and their periodic modification from the spectral filter. The theory gives a simple geometrical description of the intra-cavity dynamics and possible operation modes of the laser cavity. Further, it provides a simple and efficient method for optimizing the laser

Tunable all-fiber dissipative-soliton laser with a multimode interference filter.

We report on a tunable all-fiber dissipative-soliton laser with a multimode interference filter that consists of a multimode fiber spliced between two single-mode fibers. By carefully selecting the fiber parameters, a filter with a central wavelength at 1032 nm and a bandwidth of 7.6 nm is constructed and used for spectral filtering in an all-normal-dispersion mode-locked ytterbium-doped fiber ...

Environmentally stable high-power soliton fiber lasers that use chirped fiber Bragg gratings.

Environmentally stable high-power erbium fiber soliton lasers are constructed by Kerr or carrier-type mode locking. We obtain high-energy pulses by using relatively short fiber lengths and providing large amounts of negative dispersion with chirped fiber Bragg gratings. The pulse energies and widths generated with both types of soliton laser are found to scale with the square root of the cavity...

All-fiber normal-dispersion single-polarization passively mode-locked laser based on a 45°-tilted fiber grating.

An all-fiber normal-dispersion Yb-doped fiber laser with 45°-tilted fiber grating (TFG) is, to the best of our knowledge, experimentally demonstrated for the first time. Stable linearly-chirped pulses with the duration of 4 ps and the bandwidth of 9 nm can be directly generated from the laser cavity. By employing the 45° TFG with the polarization-dependent loss of 33 dB, output pulses with high...

Three key regimes of single pulse generation per round trip of all-normal-dispersion fiber lasers mode-locked with nonlinear polarization rotation.

We show experimentally and numerically new transient lasing regime between stable single-pulse generation and noise-like generation. We characterize qualitatively all three regimes of single pulse generation per round-trip of all-normal-dispersion fiber lasers mode-locked due to effect of nonlinear polarization evolution. We study spectral and temporal features of pulses produced in all three r...

Fiber grating compression of giant-chirped nanosecond pulses from an ultra-long nanotube mode-locked fiber laser.

We demonstrate that the giant chirp of coherent, nanosecond pulses generated in an 846 m long, all-normal dispersion, nanotube mode-locked fiber laser can be compensated using a chirped fiber Bragg grating compressor. Linear compression to 11 ps is reported, corresponding to an extreme compression factor of ∼100. Experimental results are supported by numerical modeling, which is also used to pr...
